Note 1.

Probation sentences are less serious than custodial sentences. Probation orders include conditions that convicted persons must satisfy to continue to serve their sentence in the community. These conditions include the following: restrictions on firearms; restrictions on permits; community service order; prohibition order; and restrictions preventing the accused from holding public office.

A case that involves more than one charge is represented by the most serious offence. Cases involving multiple offences include all charges in the case, regardless of whether they resulted in a guilty verdict.

Refers to violence committed by married, separated or divorced persons, common-law partners, dating partners (current and former) and other intimate partners.
