Note 4.

Includes Quebec and Ontario data only, as they are the only provinces with their own parole boards. In the other provinces and territories, the Correctional Service Canada supervises offenders on parole who have been released from a provincial or territorial facility. British Columbia counts for 2003/2004 have been excluded as this jurisdiction no longer has its own parole board. The total adult population was used to calculate rates.

The calculation of the percent change in the rate from 2003/2004 excludes long-term supervision of federal offenders. Counts and the calculation of the percent change in the rate exclude community supervision data from Nova Scotia due to the unavailability of data. The calculation of the percent change in the rate from 2003/2004 to 2012/2013 excludes community supervision data from the Northwest Territories. Rates are calculated based on the total adult population.
