Corresponds to custody following breach of the conditions of the community portion of a custody and community supervision order under an order issued by the provincial director.

Corresponds to the community portion of a custody and supervision order. The Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) stipulates that the last third of most custody orders must be served under supervision in the community.

Note: Excludes data from Nova Scotia, Quebec, Saskatchewan and Nunavut given the unavailability of data for the period covered. Admissions are collected each time a person begins any type of custodial or community supervision, and describe and measure the case-flow in correctional services over time. The same person can be included several times in the admission counts where the individual moves from one type of legal status to another (e.g., from open to secure custody) or re-enters the system in the same year. As such, admissions represent the number of entries within a fiscal year to sentenced custody, to remand, and to community supervision regardless of the individual's preceding or following legal status. The calculation methodology used by provincial and territorial departments or agencies may differ from that used by Statistics Canada and may thus produce different results. For example, in Alberta, an admission to custody is counted only once regardless of whether there is a change in status or not.
