Depression and suicidal ideation among Canadians aged 15 to 24

According to the 2012 Canadian Community Health Survey―Mental Health (CCHS-MH), 15- to 24-year-olds had the highest rates of mood and anxiety disorders of all age groups. About 7% of them were identified as having had depression in the past 12 months, compared with 5% of people aged 25 to 64 and 2% of those aged 65 or older.

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in Canada, and melanoma is its deadliest form. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation is recognized as the primary cause of skin cancer, with the incidence rate almost doubling in Canada since the 1990s. It was estimated that 81,700 Canadians would develop some form of skin cancer in 2013 and that 1,470 would die from it. These numbers are projected to rise, based on Canada’s aging population and previous tanning behaviour.
