Education has a strong, persistent and lifelong effect on literacy skills.
Individuals with more education not only begin their working lives with higher skill
levels, they also are more likely to maintain those skills at high levels into their
advanced years.

for the purchase of library materials. Moreover, while over 90% of Canadian schools are
equipped with a library, only 38% of school libraries are staffed with a teacher-librarian,
and many of those work in the library on a part-time basis.
