CANSIM I: Important notice to clients

Effective September 17, 2001, access to CANSIM I's matrix series view will no longer be available. As of that date, releases in The Daily, as well as tables on the Canadian Statistics Web page, Statistics Canada's on-line catalogue and electronic publications will refer to CANSIM II table numbers only, and no longer to the original CANSIM's matrix numbers.

Data from the Pilot Survey on Information Technology Occupations, 2000: Employee Survey are now available. This experimental survey was conducted on behalf of Human Resources Development Canada to test methods to be used in a future national survey of information technology occupations.

Interprovincial productivity differences, 1996-97

This study makes use of a new database on provincial productivity based on 243 industries of the Canadian business sector for 1996 and 1997. It compares labour productivity levels across provinces, and investigates the extent to which these are due to differences in industrial composition.

Spending patterns in Canada, 1999

Spending patterns in Canada presents analysis and key tables from the annual Survey of Household Spending (which replaces the Survey of Family Expenditures and the Household Facilities and Equipment Survey). The survey collects information about expenditures by households and families in Canada on a wide variety of goods and services.

University tuition fees, 2001/02

Undergraduate arts students will pay an average of 2.1% more in university fees for the 2001/02 academic year. This is the smallest increase since 1978/79, when tuition rose 1.4%.

E-STAT 2001 combines a wealth of socio-economic data with a new dynamic multi-dimensional access that makes finding information easier than ever. It includes data from the 1996 Census and historical censuses, as well as the results of the 2000 federal election.

The study, Generosity in Canada: Trends in personal gifts and charitable donations over three decades, 1969 to 1997, provides information about regional and income quintile patterns in gifts and charitable donations. It reveals that the gap in giving (as a proportion of household income) between low-income and high-income households is narrowing.
