Additional information

Indicators identified as fully aligned share the same concept, measurement, and data source as the corresponding Quality of Life (QoL) indicator. These indicators are coded as “Yes” in the tool.

Indicators identified as partially aligned share the same concept as the corresponding QoL indicator, but are a different expression of the indicator, or use a different data source. For example, for Perceived mental health, QoL defines it as “Proportion of the population by perceived mental health” whereas the Canadian Indicator Framework (CIF) defines it as “Percentage of Canadians who perceived their mental health as very good to excellent”. Because the CIF specifies “very good to excellent” mental health, these indicators were tagged as partially aligned. These indicators are coded as “Partial” in the tool.

Indicators identified as not aligned signify different indicators, or indicators that share a similar concept with a different measurement. For example, QoL includes an indicator on Cyberbullying whereas the CIF includes an indicator on Incidence of cyber-crime. These indicators cover related concepts, but have different definitions, measurements and data sources. These indicators are coded as “No” in the tool.

Indicators identified as not applicable denote instances where the framework does not include a comparable indicator to the corresponding QoL indicator. For example, QoL includes an indicator on Sense of meaning and purpose which is not typically found in other frameworks. These indicators are coded as “Not applicable” in the tool.

Indicators identified as to be determined refer to QoL indicators that are under development. These indicators are coded as “To be determined” in the tool.
