Data

The data used to create this interactive web application is from the following data table:

Additional information

Data presented in this interactive tool are sourced from the 2022 Time Use Survey. This survey uses a 24-hour reference period and is recall-based, meaning that respondents are asked to report activities done in a previous day. The survey is diary-based and collects information about main activity, location, simultaneous activity, and length of time spent on each main activity. This interactive tool presents data about the main activity reported.

Each time interval represents five minutes. For example, where the label is "04:00", the time represents the minutes "04:00", "04:01", "04:02", "04:03", and "04:04".

The label “Not available” indicates that either there were no participants in the activity during a time frame, or the number of participants was too small and was regrouped into another category for confidentiality. In some of these cases, the participants could not be regrouped into another category. Where this occurred, the activities in a time stamp will not add up to 100%. A participant is a respondent who declared doing a certain activity on their reference day.

The label “0s” indicates that the value is a rounded zero (that is, the value is greater than 0 but less than 0.05).

Notes

Figures may not add to 100% due to rounding.

Given that the non-binary population is small, data aggregation to a two-category gender variable is sometimes necessary to protect the confidentiality of responses. In these cases, individuals in the category "non-binary persons" are distributed into the other two gender categories and are denoted by the "+" symbol. “Men+” includes men, as well as some non-binary persons. “Women+” includes women, as well as some non-binary persons.
