Additional information
Aircraft Movement Statistics
This dashboard provides data on aircraft movements at Canada’s major airports and select small airports in an interactive format, for the last five years. It allows users to compare aircraft movements by geography, class of operation, type of operation, sector (domestic, transborder and other international) and highlights the busiest airports by amount of activity.
For more information, refer to the Aircraft movements statistical program page.
Notes
Data include itinerant and local aircraft movements from both major airports (those with NAV CANADA towers and flight service stations) and a selection of smaller airports that provide movement data to NAV CANADA.
Data by province and type of operation are not available prior to January 2022.
Definitions
- Air carrier
- Aircraft operators, licensed by the Canadian Transportation Agency to transport persons, mail and/or goods by air.

How to use
How to use this interactive visual
Use this interactive tool to view data from the Aircraft movement statistics: Major and select small airports release, for the last five years. The dashboard contains information on aircraft movements by geography, class of operation, type of operation, sector (domestic, transborder and other international) and highlights the busiest airports by amount of activity.
Filtering for specific airports will not update the following two charts: “Total monthly movements at Canada’s busiest airports (top 20)” and “Total monthly movements by geography.”
When filtering by airport, there is a search function that allows users to type specific airport names. Uncheck the “select all” box first.
Clicking on the “Percentage of movements by class of operation” pie chart will highlight the proportion of itinerant and local movements on the “Total monthly movements at Canada’s busiest airports” chart.
Selecting one of the 20 airports on the “Total monthly movements at Canada’s busiest airports” chart will display data for that airport on the “Monthly” and “Year-to-date” cards.
With your cursor, hover over an element to see the corresponding data.
