Monthly Civil Aviation Statistics

This dashboard displays the main financial and operational data from the Canadian Level I air carriers, for the last five years. It allows users to compare operating statistics (passengers, passenger-kilometres, available seat-kilometres, load factor, hours flown, and turbo fuel consumed) and financial statistics (total operating revenues) over time.

For more information, refer to the Monthly civil aviation statistical program page.

As of January 2015, Canadian Level I air carriers include Air Canada (including Air Canada Rouge), Air Transat, Jazz, Porter, Sunwing and WestJet (including Swoop, WestJet Encore and WestJet Link). From January 2020 until March 2021, inclusive, Level I carriers also include Sky Regional Airlines. As of January 2024, Level I carriers also include Flair Airlines.

Available seat-kilometres
Represents the aircraft kilometres flown on each flight stage multiplied by the number of seats available for use on that stage. This represents the total passenger carrying capacity offered.
Enplaned passengers
Refers to revenue passengers who board aircraft and surrender one or more flight coupons or other documents good for transportation over the itinerary specified in these coupons or documents.
Represents the carriage of one revenue passenger on each flight stage multiplied by the number of kilometres flown on that stage. Passenger-kilometres are obtained by totaling the number of kilometres flown by all passengers.
