The annual human resources module on non-profit institutions provides a breakdown of key statistics by characteristic category, or by demographic, with data on the number of jobs and average annual wages and salaries of non-profit employees. This interactive tool facilitates easy access to the numerous data sets in the human resources module. The tool highlights the latest results with a time-series overview of non-profit institutions by demographic and sector for earnings, type of employment and the number of jobs.

How to use this interactive visual
This interactive tool presents easy access to the numerous data sets in the human resource module on non-profit institutions.
Overview page
This page shows an overview of the number of jobs in non-profits, and the share-breakdown of employment by demographic characteristics.
At the top-middle of the page, there is a large bar chart with the number of jobs by the type of employment, full- or part-time employee, of the latest annual data. The four charts below show the percentage shares of the number of jobs by demographic characteristic. The demographic characteristics are as follows: sex, indigenous identity, immigrant status and visible or non-visible minority.
To go to a different page, click on the desired button from the four toggle buttons at the top of the screen, below the title.
Sector page
This page displays charts on the number of jobs and earnings for all non-profit sectors, by characteristic category and geographic location.
Select the sector you wish to view from the dropdown at the top-left of the screen, below the toggle buttons. Click on the "Select all" button to view all non-profit sectors at once, or uncheck "Select all" and select the sector you wish to view. Select a specific province, territory or Canada-level data by using geography dropdown menu at the top left of the screen, below the toggle buttons.
The chart in the middle-left of the page displays a time-series of the number of jobs, by sector and geographical location. The chart at the bottom-left of the page displays a time-series of the average annual wages and salaries, also by sector and geographical location.
On the top-right of the page, below the toggle buttons, select a specific characteristic category by using the characteristic category dropdown menu. Please note that the characteristic category will only change the two charts on the right side of the page. To select a reference date of the charts, click a year from the reference date dropdown menu at the middle-right of the screen, below the toggle buttons.
The chart in the middle-right of the page displays a specific time-period’s number of jobs, by characteristics category, geographic location and sector. The chart at the bottom-right of the page displays a specific time-period’s average annual wages and salaries, by characteristics category, geographic location and sector.

Number of jobs by demographics page
This page displays an overview of the number of jobs, by demographic categories, for a specific period.
On the top left of the page below the toggle buttons, you can select a geographic location, by national-level, or by province or territory. In the top-middle of the page below the toggle buttons, you can select a sector from a dropdown menu. On the top-right, below the toggle buttons, you can select a reference date, by year, from a dropdown menu.
The chart in the middle-left displays the number of jobs by age group, at a specific time-period. In the middle-right of the page, a chart provides the number of jobs by education level, at a specific time-period. Four donut-charts at the bottom of the page display the share of employment by sex, indigenous identity, immigrant status and visible or non-visible minority, at a specific time-period.

Average annual wages and salaries by demographics page
This page displays an overview of the average annual wages and salaries, by demographic categories, for a specific period.
Similar to the number of jobs page, on the top left of the page, below the toggle buttons, you can select a geographic location, by national-level, or by province or territory. In the top-middle of the page, below the toggle buttons, you can select a sector from a dropdown menu. On the top-right below the toggle buttons, you can select a reference date, by year, from a dropdown menu.
The chart on the middle-left of the page displays the average annual wages and salaries by age group, at a specific time-period. In the middle-right of the page, a chart provides the number of jobs by education level, at a specific time-period. The four bar-charts at the bottom of the page display the average annual wages and salaries by sex, indigenous identity, immigrant status and visible or non-visible minority, at a specific time-period.

Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader tips
Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader tips are available by entering the visual and pressing CTRL + Enter.
While in the visual, pressing SHIFT + "?" will open the keyboard shortcuts.
When focus is on a visual, the data table can be displayed by pressing ALT + SHIFT + F11.
