How to use this application
The application is separated into eight pages, each providing insight into the various aspects of the beef supply chain analysis available. Users can navigate between each page by selecting the buttons at the top of the page.
The Overview page provides an illustration of the structure of the supply chain.
The Production page allows the users to view data on the number of beef cattle, quantity of cattle by supply and disposition and the Farm Product Price Index (FPPI) of cattle and calves by province. Users are able to select the desired province by selecting from the dropdown bar under Geography. Users are also able to view data for specific years by selecting from the Year slider on the left-hand side of the visuals.
The Slaughter page allows the users to view data on the average farm product prices of cattle for slaughter. Users are able to view the data for specific years and provinces by selecting from the Year slider and Geography drop down menu on the left-hand side of the page.
The Processing page allows the users to view data on meat production of livestock by livestock statistics, edible offal and cold dressed weight. Users are able to select specific years from the Year slider on the left-hand side of the page. Users are also able to view data for calves or cattle by selecting from the Livestock list.
The Distribution page allows the users to view data on the average retail price of beef products. Users are able to select specific products from the Product list on the left-hand side of the page.
The Livestock imports page allows the users to view data about the quantity and value, and mode of transportation used for imported livestock to Canada.
The Beef imports page allows the users to view data about the quantity and value, mode of transportation used and the top 5 countries of origin for imported livestock to Canada. Users are able to view data for specific years by selecting from the Year slider on the left-hand side of the page. Users are also able to select specific products from the Product list on the left-hand side of the page.
The Beef exports page allows the users to view data about the quantity and value, mode of transportation used and the top 5 countries of destination for exported livestock to Canada. Users are able to view data for specific years by selecting from the Year slider on the left-hand side of the page. Users are also able to select specific products from the Product list on the left-hand side of the page.
The Price indices page allows the users to view the Raw Material Price Index (RMPI), Wholesale Services Price Index (WSPI), Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) for beef products. Users are able to view data for specific years by selecting from the Year slider on the left-hand side of the page. Users are also able to select specific products from the NAPCS list on the left-hand side of the page.
Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader tips
Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader tips are available by entering the visual and pressing Ctrl + Enter.
While in the visual, pressing Shift + ? will open the keyboard shortcuts.
When focus is on a visual, the data table can be displayed by pressing Alt + Shift + F11.
