Instructions to maximize the use of this interactive tool
For all views:
To view month-to-month changes for a selected period, click on the button “Month-to-month change for a selected period”.
To view year-over-year changes for a selected period, click on the button “Year-over-year change for a selected period”.
To view month-to-month changes and the index over time period, click on the button “Month-to-month change and index over time”.
To view year-over-year changes and the index over time, click on the button “Year-over-year change and index over time”.
Month-to-month and Year-over-year change for a selected period View
To select a specific period, click on the desired point in the reference period drop-down menu.
The colours on the map identify how the price movements of the census metropolitan areas (CMA)/census agglomeration (CA) compare with each other for a selected period.
The positive movements are represented by the colour green, the negative movements are represented by the colour red, the no change is represented by the colour white.
To magnify the map view, click on the map and hold “ctrl” and scroll.
The bar chart shows the rankings of the CMAs/CAs by the largest upward price movements based on the selected reference period.
The next bar chart shows the rankings of the CMAs/CAs by the largest downward price movements based on the selected reference period.
Month-to-month and Year-over-year change and index over time View
The “Month-to-month change and index over time” and “Year-over-year change and index over time” views contain two filters to view the data in the cross report charts by reference period and geography.
To select a reference period for the three cross report charts, use the slicer located under the Reference Period by typing the dates in the fields OR by clicking and dragging the mouse across the slider.
To select the geography, select the drop-down menu next to the reference period slicer.
The geography card is dynamic and responds to the selected geography in the drop-down menu.
The three cross report charts show the indices and the price changes by reference period and geography for Total (house and land), House Only, and Land Only.
Hovering over the bar charts will generate tooltips that contain the numbers/statistics.
It is possible to access the data from all visual elements by right clicking on the elements and selecting “Show data” or by accessing the Statistics Canada data tables (see data tables listed under “Data” above the application).
To use the focus mode for any of the visual elements, click on the desired visual and then select the “focus mode” view. To return to the prior view, select the “back to report” option of the visual.
