Definitions

Domestic tourism demand includes tourism spending in a province or territory by residents of that province or territory.
International tourism demand includes tourism spending in a province or territory by international visitors.
Interprovincial tourism demand includes tourism spending in a province or territory by residents of other provinces or territories.
Total tourism demand includes tourism spending by Canadian and international visitors. Total tourism demand is the sum of domestic tourism demand, international tourism demand and interprovincial tourism demand.

Notes

Tourism's contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) measures how much of the production of a geography is attributable to tourism. It is calculated by taking the tourism GDP and comparing it to the total GDP of that geography.

Similarly, the tourism contribution to employment measures how much of the employment of a geography is attributable to tourism. It is calculated by taking the tourism employment and comparing it to the total employment of that geography.
