Note 1 Frontier Counts data since May 2017 incorporate Primary Inspection Kiosk (PIK) data from the airports where the system has been implemented. Preliminary modelled estimates, initially used while awaiting the receipt of data from PIK airports, have now been replaced with PIK data. Return to note 1 referrer Note 2 When reporting in PIK instead of E311 declaration cards, note that Canadian residents returning by plane from overseas countries via the United States are more likely to report that they are returning from the United States and not from overseas via the United States. Use caution when making direct 2017-2018 comparisons with these categories. Return to note 2 referrer Note 3 Starting with January 2019 data, Statistics Canada updated the method of determining trip durations for US residents travelling to Canada and Canadian residents returning from the United States for non-automobile modes of transportation. This change affects the relative proportions of same-day/overnight travellers. Caution is therefore advised when comparing 2019 data with earlier time periods for these modes of transportation.
