International Accounts and International Trade

Official statistics of Canada’s balance of international payments began with the reference year 1926, with the level of detail available improving over time. The importance of foreign trade and foreign capital in the Canadian economy emphasises the relevance of these statistics to a wide range of users, such as governments, for the formulation, implementation and monitoring of financial and trade policies; businesses; the academic community; the media and the public at large; as well as supranational organizations.
