Consumer Price Index: 2019 in Review
In 2019, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 1.9% at the all-items level. Excluding gasoline, the CPI increased 2.3%. Consumer inflation slowed to 1.9% in 2019 following a 2.3% increase in 2018.
Movers and shakers
Higher mortgage interest costs contributed the most to inflation in 2019, offset in part by lower gasoline prices.
