Statistics by subject

Statistics by subject is a great resource if you aren’t sure exactly what you are looking for, or if you want a wide range of information about a subject. It provides the entry page to publications, tables, survey information, and other content. It also provides featured products selected by subject matter areas. While it does not cover the entire site and no standalone html pages, it does cover some maps and geography pages, and learning resources.

CANSIM

CANSIM is a database that contains more than 43 million time series (observations for a given subject at regular intervals) regrouped in over 3,000 tables containing data on labour, manufacturing, investment, international trade and much more; CANSIM enables users to track trends in virtually every aspect of Canadian life. Searching is offered by subject, text search, table number, series number or survey number.

Some CANSIM data are also available through the System of national economic accounts module and Health Indicators.

Economic indicators, Latest Labour Force release, and Latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release

When entering The Daily module, you will see buttons on the left side navigational bar that will bring you to the latest economic indicators, labour force and CPI statistics. A PDF version of the labour force and CPI reports is also offered.

If you can’t find what you are looking for, you can contact us by telephone or email.

Imports and exports (International trade statistics)

The Imports and exports (International trade statistics) page directs you to useful tools to aid in finding relevant information. For example, the fee-based Canadian International Merchandise Trade database gives detailed trade data at the 8- and 10-digit commodity level (Harmonized System). Results in value (dollars) are provided monthly for customized examination of trade trends with a particular foreign market or for a specific commodity.
