- Articles and reports: 82-003-X202301100002Description: On average, 45% of Canadian adults meet the recommended 150 minutes per week of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. Using six combined cycles of the Canadian Health Measures Survey (2007 to 2019), this study examines how the percentage of Canadian males and females aged 18 to 79 years meeting the physical activity recommendation differs across socio-demographic, family arrangement and health factors. The purpose of this paper is to determine how sex, age and family arrangement intersect with known risk factors for physical inactivity to identify groups within the Canadian population most at risk of not meeting the physical activity recommendation.Release date: 2023-11-15
- Articles and reports: 82-003-X202300300002Description: Previous studies examining the cardiometabolic risks associated with physical activity (PA) in workers have predominantly used self-reported measures. Little is known about workers’ distinct daily PA patterns and whether these are linked with cardiometabolic risks. This study examined associations between patterns of workers’ accelerometer-measured daily PA and four markers of cardiometabolic health. Furthermore, the study examined similarities and differences between younger compared to middle-aged and older workers, and between men and women, to understand whether these groups are associated with different cardiometabolic risks.Release date: 2023-03-15

- 4. Canadian Food Environment Dataset: A New Pan-Canadian Dataset of Retail Food Environment MeasuresArticles and reports: 13-20-0001Description:
The Canadian Food Environment Dataset (Can-FED) is a pan-Canadian dataset of retail food environment measures at the dissemination area (DA) level based on food outlet data from the 2018 Statistics Canada Business Register.

This study investigates the extent to which stressful life events may increase the likelihood of food insecurity among the Canadian adult population. Data from the Wave 4 (2018) of the Longitudinal and International Study of Adults (LISA) and multivariable logistic models were used for the analyses, taking into account the complex survey design and adjusting for other socio-demographic and socio-economic variables known to be associated with food insecurity. The results show that work and health-related stressful life events significantly increase the likelihood of exposure to food insecurity. The results also show that adults who reported having two or more stressful life events were about four times more likely to experience food insecurity than those who reported zero stressful life events.

Postoperative opioid prescriptions may be associated with risks of unintentional poisoning and drug diversion in other household members. The objective of this study was to explore the association between mothers' postoperative opioid prescriptions and incidence of opioid-related events in their children (aged 1 to 24 years).
Release date: 2020-07-15 - 7. Oral contraceptive use among women aged 15 to 49: Results from the Canadian Health Measures Survey ArchivedArticles and reports: 82-003-X201501014222Description:
Based on results for 2007 to 2011 from the Canadian Health Measures Survey, the present study estimates the prevalence of oral contraceptive (OC) use among non-pregnant reproductive-aged women; profiles OC users by sociodemographic characteristics and cardiovascular risk factors; and identifies the OCs used, by estrogen dose and progestin type.
Release date: 2015-10-21 - Articles and reports: 82-003-X201500514169Description:
The Cancer Risk Management Model incorporates the risk of developing cancer, disease screening and clinical management with cost and labour data to assess health outcomes and economic impact. A screening module added to the lung cancer module enables a variety of scenarios to be evaluated for different target populations with varying rates of participation, compliance, and frequency of low-dose computed tomography screening.

study examines the prevalence, frequency and correlates of self-monitoring of blood glucose, based on a nationally representative sample of patients with type 2 diabetes.
Release date: 2013-06-19 - Articles and reports: 82-003-X201300511793Geography: CanadaDescription:
Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, m-, p-xylenes and o-xylene (BTEX) are ubiquitous in residential settings. Chronic exposure to low BTEX concentrations may have health consequences. This study is based on data from the 2009 to 2011 Canadian Health Measures Survey, which produced nationally representative estimates of BTEX concentrations indoors.
