    Description: This article uses data from the 2018 Canadian Housing Survey (CHS) to examine health, life satisfaction, and financial hardship among First Nations people living off reserve, Métis and Inuit across housing tenure (owners, renters, or renters in social and affordable housing), housing conditions, and core housing need. Where possible, estimates are presented by Indigenous identity group, gender, and age with those for the non-Indigenous population provided for context.

Here, respondents are said to have a strong sense of meaning and purpose if they answered 8, 9 or 10 to the question “Using a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 means ‘Not at all’ and 10 means ‘Completely,’ to what extent do you feel the things you do in your life are worthwhile?”

This study uses the 2018 General Social Survey - Caregiving and Care Receiving (Cycle 32) to examine the types of support provided to caregivers. It also examines the relationship between unmet support needs and some indicators of well-being.
