    Description: This interactive data visualization tool uses graphs to present social inclusion indicators under the theme of Public services and institutions. The indicators (confidence in institutions [8], having a regular health care provider, perceived need for mental health care, unmet health care needs, perception of the local police force as doing a good job [6 measures]) can be disaggregated by visible minority and selected sociodemographic for the population in private households. Data are available for Canada and geographical regions of Canada. This data visualization tool is part of a broader conceptual framework on social inclusion and covers a total of 11 themes. Each theme has a similar interactive visualization tool.

    Description: Using data from the 2014 General Social Survey on Canadians' Safety (Victimization), this Juristat examines the self-reported experiences of violent victimization and discrimination, and the perceptions of safety, among Canadian immigrants. Experiences of violent victimization, including incidents of sexual assault, robbery and physical assault, are examined focusing on the characteristics of the incidents, whether they were reported to police and their impacts on the victims. In addition, experiences of discrimination among immigrants-including the types of discrimination and the context in which these incidents occurred-as well as immigrants' perceptions of safety from crime are also discussed.

Using data from the 2014 General Social Survey (GSS) on Victimization and the 2013 GSS on Social Identity, this report explores issues of confidence and trust in government and institutions. Overall levels of confidence, measures of police performance, levels of generalized trust and trust in specific institutions are examined. The impact of geography, socio-demographic and neighbourhood characteristics on perceptions are also discussed.

    This is the thirteenth annual Family Violence in Canada: A Statistical Profile report produced by the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics under the Federal Family Violence Initiative. This annual report provides the most current data on the nature and extent of family violence in Canada, as well as trends over time, as part of the ongoing initiative to inform policy makers and the public about family violence issues. Each year the report has a different focus. This year, the focus of the report is on self-reported incidents of spousal victimization from the 2009 General Social Survey on Victimization. In addition, using police-reported data, the report also presents information on family violence against children and youth, family violence against seniors, and family-related homicides. The Family Violence in Canada: A Statistical Profile will now be produced as an article in Juristat, catalogue no. 85-002-X , as such the old product number (85-224-X) associated with the report is now terminated.

The Sort by feature provides three options:

  • By date – sorts results by product release date starting with the most recent.
  • By relevance is only needed or beneficial when you use the search box and submit a search query. Results are ordered by a combination of where the search term appears in the content, e.g., if it appears in the title, it likely means the product is more relevant to your search; how up to date or new the content in the product is; how popular the product is; and other factors.
  • By title – sorts results alphabetically.
