Online child sexual exploitation: A statistical profile of police-reported incidents in Canada, 2024

These include, for example, luring, invitation to sexual touching, non-consensual distribution of intimate images, as well as online child sexual abuse and exploitation material offences. Using police-reported data from the Uniform Crime Reporting Survey, this Juristat article explores the prevalence and nature of online child sexual exploitation incidents reported by police in 2024. In addition, data from the Integrated Criminal Court Survey are used to examine the number and types of cases involving sexual offences against children likely facilitated online that were completed in adult criminal court and youth court from 2014/2015 to 2023/2024.
