This is a map of Canada by province and territory that shows the month-to-month percentage changes of the total building permits value. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.

Building permit values in Canada were up 10.3% compared with February. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 11.6%, Prince Edward Island was up 42.4%, Nova Scotia was up 42.4%, New Brunswick was down 6.2%, Quebec was up 5.0%, Ontario was up 8.3%, Manitoba was up 2.3%, Saskatchewan was up 26.1%, Alberta was up 0.7%, British Columbia was up 24.4%, Yukon was up 22.2%, the Northwest Territories was up 254.3% and Nunavut was down 40.7%.

Residential: The total value was down 3.3% month over month.

Non-residential: The total value was up 38.4% month over month.

Single-family dwellings: the total value was $2,682 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 0.0% or $0.3 million.

Multi-family dwellings: the total value was $5,293 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 4.9% or $270.9 million.

Industrial: the total value was $1,539 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 44.4% or $473.2 million.

Commercial: the total value was $2,172 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 12.3% or $238.0 million.

Institutional: the total value was $1,799 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 83.3% or $817.1 million.
