This is a map of Canada by province and territory that shows the month-to-month percentage changes of the total building permits value. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.
Building permit values in Canada were down 8.4% in February compared with January. Newfoundland and Labrador was down 53.1%, Prince Edward Island was up 30.9%, Nova Scotia was down 50.6%, New Brunswick was up 18.3%, Quebec was down 16.3%, Ontario was down 15.1%, Manitoba was up 30.6%, Saskatchewan was down 0.5%, Alberta was down 14.8%, British Columbia was up 29.3%, Yukon was up 88.9%, the Northwest Territories was down 88.2% and Nunavut was up 716.3%.

Residential: The total value was up 1.7% month over month.
Non-residential: The total value was down 24.0% month over month.
Single-family dwellings: the total value was $2,692 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 1.6% or $44.7 million.
Multi-family dwellings: the total value was $5,440 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 3.4% or $180.3 million.
Industrial: the total value was $985 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 9.6% or $104.7 million.
Commercial: the total value was $2,048 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 7.2% or $160.0 million.
Institutional: the total value was $929 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 51.5% or $987.2 million.
