Note(s):
The Civil Court Survey excludes data from Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, and Manitoba, provinces that are not yet reporting information to the survey. This table also excludes data from Saskatchewan for data availability reasons. Criminal court cases are out of scope for this survey. Percentages may not add up to 100% because of rounding. In this table, 2020/2021 (April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021) is considered as the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Table note 1
A disposition is a court event that disposes of part of or all of the civil case (e.g., settlement, consent judgment and judgment). Disposition events may also include cases that are transferred permanently to another court location, court level or type of court. Therefore, it is important to note that the case may not necessarily be disposed of but may instead continue in another court.
Table note 2
A general civil case is any civil action that is not a family-related action, such as contracts, torts, bankruptcy, probate matters and other claims involving money.
Table note 3
