In January, investment in residential construction for Canada decreased 1.4% compared to December 2023. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 22.7%, Prince Edward Island was up 16.4%, Nova Scotia was down 1.2%, New Brunswick was down 6.4%, Quebec was up 2.2%, Ontario was down 4.1%, Manitoba was up 5.7%, Saskatchewan was up 2.9%, Alberta was down 0.0%, British Columbia was down 2.3%, Yukon was down 21.3%, Northwest Territories was down 7.3%, Nunavut was up 24.7%.

Total investment for Canada was $13,609.8 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $74.7 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $97.5 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $413.6 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $242.1 million, total investment for Quebec was $2,468.3 million, total investment for Ontario was $5,394.8 million, total investment for Manitoba was $434.1 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $302.9 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,915.0 million, total investment for British Columbia was $2,239.8 million, total investment for Yukon was $18.1 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $3.3 million, total investment for Nunavut was $5.6 million.

Single homes: Market share was 32.4%, total investment totalled $2,057.6 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 14.2% or $341.6 million.

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 2.5%, total investment totalled $161.5 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 7.9% or $13.8 million.

Row homes: Market share was 9.5%, total investment totalled $604.7 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 5.0% or $31.8 million.

Condos and rental apartments: Market share was 55.6%, total investment totalled $3,531.9 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 7.8% or $255.1 million.
