Building permit values in Canada down 17.5% compared with August. Newfoundland and Labrador up 17.8%, Prince Edward Island down 29.1%, Nova Scotia up 28.9%, New Brunswick up 29.8%, Quebec down 8.0%, Ontario down 32.0%, Manitoba down 18.0%, Saskatchewan down 8.0%, Alberta down 11.9%, British Columbia down 0.9%, Yukon up 68.8%, Northwest Territories up 163.3%, Nunavut up 197.2%.

Residential: a month-over-month decrease of 15.6%

Non-Residential: a month-over-month decrease of 21.5%

Single-family dwellings: total value was $3,179 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 7.7% or $264.5 million.

Multi-family dwellings: total value was $3,861 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 21.2% or $1,039.0 million.

Industrial: total value was $631 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 23.4% or $192.2 million.

Commercial: total value was $1,801 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 11.5% or $235.2 million.

Institutional: total value was $746 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 37.2% or $442.3 million.
