Investment in residential construction for Canada decreased 2.7% compared to April 2021. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 0.6%, Prince Edward Island was down 13.7%, Nova Scotia was up 2.4%, New Brunswick was down 11.5%, Quebec was down 10.0%, Ontario was down 2.2%, Manitoba was up 11.7%, Saskatchewan was down 16.9%, Alberta was up 4.8%, British Columbia was up 2.7%, Yukon was up 111.2%, Northwest Territories was up 50.2%, Nunavut was down 38.5% (use with caution).

Total investment for Canada was $14,781.3 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $89.1 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $97.9 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $300.3 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $239.5 million, total investment for Quebec was $3,218.7 million, total investment for Ontario was $6,405.6 million, total investment for Manitoba was $485.3 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $270.3 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,370.1 million, total investment for British Columbia was $2,247.9 million, total investment for Yukon was $28.1 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $21.5 million, total investment for Nunavut was $6.8 million (use with caution).

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 4.3%, total investment totalled $287.1 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 63.0% or $110.9 million.

Row homes: Market share was 9.4%, total investment totalled $624.6 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 47.6% or $201.5 million.

Condo and rental apartments: Market share was 43.6%, total investment totalled $2,894.0 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 37.4% or $788.0 million.
