Building permit values in Canada down 14.8% compared to April. Newfoundland and Labrador up 217.5%, Prince Edward Island down 22.5%, Nova Scotia down 2.2%, New Brunswick down 30.9%, Quebec down 1.8%, Ontario down 26.6%, Manitoba up 6.5%, Saskatchewan down 17.5%, Alberta down 7.2%, British Columbia down 10.4%, Yukon down 12.2%, Northwest Territories up 1,253.2%, not applicable for Nunavut.

Residential: a month-over-month decrease of 16.0%

Non residential: a month-over-month decrease of 12.2%

Single family dwellings: total value was $3,184 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 10.6% or $379.2 million.

Multi-family dwellings: total value was $3,295 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 20.6% or $853.7 million.

Industrial: total value was $511 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 14.6% or $87.1 million.

Commercial: total value was $1,577 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 15.8% or $296.8 million.

Institutional: total value was $900 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 3.4% or $31.3 million.
