Investment in residential construction for Canada increased 1.6% compared with August 2020. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 3.2%, Prince Edward Island was up 3.3%, Nova Scotia was down 5.5%, New Brunswick was up 15.4%, Quebec was up 2.5%, Ontario was up 0.6%, Manitoba was up 22.3%, Saskatchewan was down 0.9%, Alberta was up 0.5%, British Columbia was down 1.9%, Yukon was up 3.4%, Northwest Territories was down 91.9%, Nunavut was too unreliable to be published.

Single homes: Market share was 41.7%, total investment totalled $2,381.1 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 2.7% or $63.6 million.

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 4.5%, total investment totalled $255.1 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 26.1% or $52.8 million.

Row homes: Market share was 9.5%, total investment totalled $544.6 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 8.5% or $50.3 million.

Condo and rental apartments: Market share was 44.3%, total investment totalled $2,529.8 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 11.3% or $256.0 million.
