This is a map of Canada by province and territory showing the month-to-month percentage changes for investment in new housing construction. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.
Investment in residential construction for Canada decreased 49.2% compared to March 2020. Newfoundland and Labrador was down 63.6%, Prince Edward Island was down 54.9%, Nova Scotia was down 50.2%, New Brunswick was down 49.3%, Quebec was down 77.6%, Ontario was down 46.8%, Manitoba was down 40.1%, Saskatchewan was down 39.4%, Alberta was down 30.5%, British Columbia was down 36.3%, Yukon was down 56.5%, Northwest Territories was down 43.9%, Nunavut was down 17.0%.

Total investment for Canada was $5,360.2 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $20.9 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $28.2 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $119.0 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $51.9 million, total investment for Quebec was $456.7 million, total investment for Ontario was $2,442.7 million, total investment for Manitoba was $180.2 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $106.8 million, total investment for Alberta was $698.6 million, total investment for British Columbia was $1,232.4 million, total investment for Yukon was $8.3 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $7.0 million, total investment for Nunavut was $7.5 million.

Single homes: Market share was 34.9%, total investment totalled $1,294.4 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 5.7% or $69.5 million.
Semi-detached homes: Market share was 3.4%, total investment totalled $126.7 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 10.5% or $14.8 million.
Row homes: Market share was 11.4%, total investment totalled $423.8 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 7.8% or $36.1 million.
Condo and rental apartments: Market share was 50.2%, total investment totalled $1,860.1 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 4.1% or $78.6 million.
