This is a map of Canada by province showing the month-to-month percentage changes for total building permit value. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.

Building permit values in Canada up 7.4% compared to November 2019. Newfoundland and Labrador down 14.8%, Prince Edward Island down 26.5%, Nova Scotia down 15.5%, New Brunswick up 24.1%, Quebec up 15.8%, Ontario up 10.5%, Manitoba down 24.6%, Saskatchewan down 15.0%, Alberta up 0.7%, British Columbia up 7.1%, Yukon down 16.4%, Northwest Territories down 41.5%, Nunavut down 98.6%.

Residential: a month-over month increase of 6.8%

Non residential: a month-over-month increase of 8.3%

Single family dwellings: total value was $2,172 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 3.2% or $71.3 million.

Multi-family dwellings: total value was $2,870 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 15.9% or $392.9 million.

Industrial: total value was $583 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 21.0% or $155.4 million.

Commercial: total value was $2,035 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 19.7% or $335.5 million.

Institutional: total value was $1,012 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 10.8% or $98.5 million.
