Infographic 1
The market price and emissions intensity of greenhouse gases (GHGs) for large emitters in the Canadian manufacturing sector
Infographic description
The title of the infographic is "The market price and emissions intensity of greenhouse gases (GHGs) for large emitters in the Canadian manufacturing sector"
This chart has two vertical axes. The left-hand vertical axis shows GHG emissions intensity in tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars. The right-hand axis shows the market price of GHG emissions in dollars.
In 2004, GHG emissions intensity was at 782 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $298.
In 2005, GHG emissions intensity was at 694 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $336.
In 2006, GHG emissions intensity was at 736 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $317.
In 2007, GHG emissions intensity was at 684 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $341.
In 2008, GHG emissions intensity was at 652 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $357.
In 2009, GHG emissions intensity was at 751 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $310.
In 2010, GHG emissions intensity was at 666 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $350.
In 2011, GHG emissions intensity was at 612 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $381.
In 2012, GHG emissions intensity was at 598 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the market price of GHG emissions was $390.
In 2013, the projected GHG emissions intensity was at 586 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the projected market price of GHG emissions was $395.
In 2014, the projected GHG emissions intensity was at 553 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the projected market price of GHG emissions was $409.
In 2015, the projected GHG emissions intensity was at 536 tonnes per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars and the projected market price of GHG emissions was $422.
Note: A large emitter in the Canadian manufacturing sector is defined as a manufacturer that emitted 100 000 tonnes of GHGs or more annually. GHG emission intensity is measured as tonnes of GHG emissions per million of 2012 chained Fisher dollars of gross output for businesses that emitted 100 000 tonnes of GHGs or more in a given year from 2004 to 2012. The lighter shaded bars and the dashed line for 2013 to 2015 are projected values.
