International travel account, fourth quarter 2011
Canada's international travel deficit declined $168 million to $4.0 billion in the fourth quarter. A decrease in payments by Canadians travelling in the United States contributed greatly to the reduction in the deficit.
Canadian ports and marine terminals handled 450.0 million tonnes of cargo in 2010, up 9.8% from 2009. This was the first increase in tonnage in three years and the largest growth rate in two decades.
