  • Retail trade, October 2000

    Retail sales declined 0.9% in October to $23.3 billion, leaving sales slightly below their July level. Lower October sales by motor and recreational vehicle dealers led to declines in all provinces.

  • Labour productivity, hourly compensation and unit labour cost, third quarter 2000

    Accompanying impressive growth in gross domestic product this year, labour productivity in Canadian businesses grew at an annual pace of 1.7%, 3.0% and 2.1% in each of the first three quarters of 2000 relative to the same quarter a year earlier.
