  1. On April 1, 2016, Canada’s population was estimated at 36,155,487.
  2. Between January 1 and April 1, 2016, Canada’s population increased by 106,966.
  3. In the first quarter of 2016, the population growth rate in Canada was 0.3%, a level that has not been reached since 2009 for this period of the year.
  4. During the first quarter of 2016, Canada received a record 86,216 immigrants. This was an increase of 68.8% compared with the first quarter of 2015 (51,083).
