  1. On January 1, 2014, Canada’s population was estimated at 35,345,000.
  2. The population growth rate in Canada for the fourth quarter of 2013 reached 0.1%.
  3. In the last quarter of 2013, population growth was above the national average (+0.1%) in the three Prairie provinces, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
  4. Population growth rate over 2013 stood at 1.1%, a growth similar to the one observed in 2012.
  5. Alberta continued to lead all provinces in terms of yearly growth (+3.3%) in 2013, followed by Saskatchewan (+1.8%).
  6. Alberta was the province with the highest net gain in interprovincial migration in 2013 (+43,100).
