  1. During the third quarter of 2012, Canada's population surpassed the 35 million mark and reached 35,002,400 on October 1, 2012, according to preliminary population estimates.
  2. The population of Canada grew by 0.3% since July 1, 2012 and by 1.0% since January 1, 2012.
  3. Preliminary estimates show that population growth was higher in western provinces. Alberta (+0.9%), Saskatchewan (+0.6%) and British Columbia (+0.4%) recorded growth rates above the national average.
