Chart 14 Aboriginal identity people as a proportion of admissions to adult correctional services, 2007/2008

1. Excludes Nuvavut (NV). 
2. Excludes Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island (PEI) and the Northwest Territories (NWT).
3. Excludes PEI and NWT
Note(s):Federal sentenced custody: detention of offenders convicted of a crime serving a term of two years or more in a federal facility. Remand: detention while awaiting trial or sentencing Provincial and territorial sentenced custody: detention of offenders convicted of a crime serving a term of less than two years in a provincial or territorial facility. Probation/supervised probation: offender is placed under the supervision of a probation officer or other designated person.
Conditional sentence: when the offender serves a term of imprisonment in the community under specified conditions.
