This chart shows seven horizontal bar clusters for each of the following provinces and territories: Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Each cluster consists of two horizontal bars for the age groups: 45 to 54 years and 55 years of age and older. The 2001 APS revealed that the proportion of Aboriginal people who attended residential schools varies across the provinces and territories. In the Yukon Territory and Northwest Territories, at least half of the off reserve Aboriginal adult population aged 45 years and over had attended residential school. In Nunavut 40% of the Aboriginal population aged 45 to 54 years and 52% of those 55 years of age and older had attended a residential school. Among the provinces the proportions vary from 11% of the 45 to 54 year olds in Manitoba to 22% of those 55 years of age and older in Saskatchewan.
