Percent of people with six or more other friends, by age group and organizational involvement, 2003

In all age groups (25 to 54 years, 55 to 64 years, 65 to 74 years, 75 years and over), the proportion of people who said they have six or more "other" friends was considerably higher among those who belonged to organizations than those who did not. To illustrate, in the 75 and over group, 78% of those who belonged to organizations said they have six or more other friends, compared to 47% of those who did not belong to organizations.
