The Biotechnology Use and Development Survey 2005 was a collaborative project with funding contributions from the Canadian Biotechnology Secretariat.

The testing of the questionnaire was done by Statistics Canada's Questionnaire Design Resource Centre and was carried out by Shana Wogrinetz. Questionnaire design was done by Michelle Philibert from the Dissemination Division.

The questionnaire mail-out and collection/data capture was carried out by Operations and Integration Division, under the direction of Patrick Cloutier, Carole Nadeau and Shannon Steele.

The Business Survey Methods Division was responsible for the methodology of the survey. In particular, the authors would like to thank Marnie Thomas.

Finally, the author would also like to thank the 352 selected services firms who completed the questionnaire. Without their cooperation and goodwill, this working paper would not have been possible.

Note of appreciation

Canada owes the success of its statistical system to a long-standing partnership between Statistics Canada, the citizens of Canada, its businesses, governments and other institutions. Accurate and timely statistical information could not be produced without their continued co-operation and goodwill.
