Newfoundland and Labrador does not have any municipal police forces. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (a provincial police force) provides policing to the larger municipalities.

Excludes personnel from Royal Canadian Mounted Police Headquarters. The Ontario Provincial Police deploy 1,845 officers to provide municipal policing services under contract and these are included as municipal, not provincial policing.

Excludes personnel from Royal Canadian Mounted Police Training Academy.

The South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority and the British Columbia Lower Mainland Integrated Teams are included in this report, resulting in a higher rate of police officer strength than in past years.

Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut do not have any municipal police forces. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is responsible for providing policing to the territories.
