Rates are calculated on the basis of 100,000 seniors (65 years and older). Populations based upon July 1st estimates from Statistics Canada, Demography Division.

Includes biological, step, adoptive and foster parents.

Includes friends, current or former boyfriends or girlfriends, neighbours, authority figures and casual acquaintances.
Note(s):
Excludes incidents where the victim's sex and/or age was unknown. In 2008, data from the Incident-based Uniform Crime Reporting Survey covered 98% of the population of Canada.
