1. Includes arson, other assaults, assault against a peace/public officer, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, discharge firearm with intent, extortion, kidnapping, unlawfully causing bodily harm, and other violent offences.
Notes: Includes family and non-family violence against victims aged 65 years and older. Excludes incidents where the victim's sex, age and/or relationship was unknown. Rate per100,000 population for the geographic areas policed by the UCR2 respondents, based on populations provided by Demography Division, Statistics Canada. Data are not nationally representative. Based on data from 149 police services representing approximately 90% of the population in Canada in 2006. Hamilton Police Service is excluded from the analysis due to data quality of the relationship variable.
