These situations may include at school, in the streets, in personal interactions or some other situations. These responses were grouped together in the "Other" category. Return to note 3 referrer Note: Percentages are calculated based on respondents who indicated they had experienced discrimination in the five years preceding the survey. Respondents were able to provide more than one response. The answers "Don't know" and "Refusal" are included in the calculation of the percentages. Immigrant refers to a person who is or has ever been a landed immigrant/permanent resident. This person has been granted the right to live in Canada permanently by immigration authorities. Some immigrants have resided in Canada for a number of years, while others have arrived recently. Some immigrants are Canadian citizens, while others are not.
