Cancer in Canada: Focus on Lung, Colorectal, Breast and Prostate

This article is an overview of the four most commonly diagnosed types of cancer in Canada. Data are from the 1992 to 2007 Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR). The focus is on basic trends over time, as well as age and sex differences regarding incidence rates, survival and mortality.

Disparities in life expectancy at birth

This article examines the life expectancy of Canadians within an international and national context. A variety of factors related to differences in life expectancy are explored including: smoking, drinking, and obesity; socio-economic variables such as gender, education, and income; and other factors such as population density and remoteness.
