Figure 1
Sample calculations for mean distance between respondent house location (from satellite imagery) and postal code representative points (from PCCF+)

Description for Figure 1
Figure 1 presents examples of how probability weights were used to calculate a mean distance between the reference location and PCCF+ representative points for each record, using all the possible representative points for each postal code.
Figure 1A shows an urban postal code geocoded to a unique PCCF+ representative point. The distance from the reference location was 0.16.
Figure 1B shows urban postal codes spanning more than one dissemination block/area and matching to multiple PCCF+ representative points with equal probability of being assigned. The mean distances were 0.23 km, 0.24 km, 0.15 km and 0.45 km. The equally weighted mean distance from the reference location was 0.27 km.
Figure 1C illustrates a case with three possible PCCF+ representative points for the postal code, for which the population-weighed probabilities of assigning one of the three were 70%, 20%, and 10%. The distances from the reference location were 2.65 km, 4.33 km, and 8.21, respectively. The population-weighted mean distance from the reference location was 3.54 km.
