Compared with No Screening, the modelled cost of triennial screening mammography at ages 50 to 69 is about $1.2 million per 1,000 women screened and yields 11.9 QALYS per 1,000 women. Costs and QALYs rise with the frequency of screening and the size of the age range screened. For the most frequent screening (annual) of the broadest age group (40 to 74), the modelled cost is almost $5.6 million per 1,000 women screened and yields 36.0 QALYs per 1,000 women.
