The mean score for Canada is a weighted average based on results for the provinces. “Below the mean score for Canada” and "above the mean score for Canada" refer to statistically significant differences between the results for the jurisdictions and the results at the Canada level.

Notes: The Pan-Canadian Assessment Program (PCAP) is a cyclical program of assessments that measures the achievement of Grade 8 students in Canada. It is conducted by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC). PCAP provides a detailed look at each of three core learning areas, or domains, in the years when the domain is a major focus of the assessment (reading in 2007, mathematics in 2010, and science in 2013), along with a minor focus on the other two domains. PCAP, which was first conducted in 2007, has replaced CMEC's School Achievement Indicators Program (SAIP).
The overall results for a jurisdiction represent those for students in both school systems (English and French).
Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut did not participate in PCAP 2013.
